Ordinary People, Farnham Maltings 2025

In 2020 I set up my own company, Scoot Theatre, in response to the pandemic. It was my way of trying to get people back together again after lockdowns. Scoot has now developed into a company that creates work with and for young people. We do this by involving children in the research and development stages of all our shows. We also run our own youth theatre for 11–19-year-olds every Saturday: Scoot Youth devise their own work on topics and themes that are important to them. You can find out more about Scoot here.

As Lead Producer at Farnham Maltings, I was part of the management team and took responsibility for all in-house productions. During my time in this role, I co-produced and directed three national tours of Quentin Blake’s much-loved story Mrs Armitage on Wheels in collaboration with Scoot Theatre. I also produced and directed the Maltings’ Christmas show, a brand-new adaptation of Diana Hendry’s Christmas in Exeter Street, adapted by Cordelia O’Neill and reviewed as “one of the best festive productions I have ever seen.”

Alongside this, I programmed the annual Family Festival, a vibrant day of free and low-cost creative activities for young people and their families and oversaw the running of the Maltings Youth Theatre across Juniors, Seniors and Advanced Groups, producing their shows and supporting the next generation of performers.

A particular highlight was leading on Ordinary People, a new musical by Olivier Award-winning composer Darren Clark (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Written specifically for Farnham after interviews with members of the local community, the production brought together a cast of four professional actor-musicians and a community cast of 15, celebrating shared stories through original music and performance.

I am now a freelance producer, as well as Associate Producer for Farnham Maltings.

Scoot is developing a stage adaptation of Jon Klassen’s The Rock from the Sky. We visited primary schools in 2025 to explore the book with our intended audience and had a blast.
